Alan has been a senior instructor at the Auckland Dojo for 12 years. He has won numerous National Kata competitions and placed in National Men’s Kendo Opens. Alan also holds 4th Dan Iaido, and 3rd Dan Jodo.

 He has represented New Zealand in the World Kendo Championships in 1988, 1991, 1997, and 2006.

Alan has attended three foreign Kendo Instructor seminars in Kitamoto, Japan and the Asia Pacific Refereeing Seminar in Sydney 2006. Alan co instructs Iaido at the Auckland Dojo.

Alan is a mainstay of the Auckland Kendo Club. Kendoka attending his classes are treated to a well formatted active class balanced with letter perfect verbal instruction well received by all.
